The Women In Sport - Trust
The Women in Sports Trust is a dedicated vehicle for driving meaningful transformation and contributing to the economic empowerment of black women, both abled and disabled, within the sports sector in South Africa. Grounded in principles of equity, inclusion, and opportunity, the Trust seeks to break down barriers and create a sustainable platform for growth, leadership, and recognition of women in all spheres of sports.
The Trust—hereafter referred to as “the Trust”—aims to provide structured support, targeted resources, and equitable opportunities for women participating in or contributing to sports as athletes, coaches, administrators, technical staff, entrepreneurs, and executive leaders. It envisions a sports industry where women not only participate but thrive, influence, and lead with impact and authority.
Beyond resource provision, the Trust is an active advocate for the fair treatment, visibility, and meaningful representation of women across all sporting codes and governance structures. It plays a catalytic role in promoting gender equality by facilitating mentorship programmes, leadership development, access to networks, and collaborative platforms that support career advancement and entrepreneurship for women in sport.
Our Beneficiaries
To ensure impactful outcomes and responsible governance, the Trust implements Transparent selection standards for identifying, evaluating, and selecting beneficiaries. These criteria are designed to ensure that support is extended to individuals and organisations that align with the core objectives of the Trust, including long-term empowerment, community upliftment, and systemic transformation within the sports ecosystem.
Ultimately, the Women in Sports Trust is more than a funding mechanism—it is a dynamic force for change, determined to shape a future where women are not only participants but champions, change-makers, and pioneers in South African sport.
